About
Mr. Simon Radley graduated with Honours in Surgery from the University of Birmingham in 1985. He trained as a registrar in general surgery in the West Midlands and later completed specialist training at St. Mark’s Hospital in London. During this time, he also undertook an overseas fellowship in the United States, gaining experience in Boston, Minneapolis, and at the Mayo Clinic.
After completing his registrar training, Simon was appointed Senior Lecturer in Surgery at the University of Birmingham and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. In April 2002, he became a Consultant Surgeon. In this role, he was instrumental in introducing laparoscopic colorectal surgery to both the Queen Elizabeth Hospital and BMI The Priory Hospital.
Simon has held several leadership positions, including Clinical Service Lead for General and Gastrointestinal Surgery at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England, has served as the hospital’s colorectal cancer lead, and chaired the West Midlands Colorectal Cancer Expert Advisory Group.
Alongside his clinical work, Simon is committed to education. He regularly teaches on local, national, and international courses and is frequently invited to lecture at professional meetings worldwide. As part of the national LAPCO training programme, he has trained consultant surgeons across the UK in performing laparoscopic bowel cancer surgery.
