Miss Sarah Addison is a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon providing private care at The Priory Hospital and HCA The Harborne Hospital in Birmingham. She specialises in bowel and colorectal surgery, with particular expertise in keyhole (laparoscopic) techniques. Miss Addison also holds an NHS consultant post at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham.

Miss Addison graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1996 and completed her higher surgical training in general and colorectal surgery across the West Midlands in 2009. During her training, she was awarded a regional travelling fellowship to Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St Louis, USA, where she developed her skills in advanced laparoscopic surgery and peritoneal cancer treatment. She was appointed as a consultant in 2009 and joined the colorectal department at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham in 2018.

Miss Addison treats a broad range of bowel and colorectal conditions including bowel cancer (colorectal cancer), diverticular disease, haemorrhoids, anal fissure, anal fistula and pilonidal sinus disease. Her surgical practice includes keyhole bowel surgery, colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, haemorrhoidectomy, haemorrhoidal artery ligation operation (HALO), banding of haemorrhoids and hernia repair. Her advanced laparoscopic training means many procedures can be carried out through keyhole techniques, which typically means a shorter hospital stay and a quicker recovery.
