About

Miss Sarah Addison is a Consultant Colorectal and General Surgeon at The Priory Hospital. She graduated from the University of Birmingham in 1996 and completed her basic surgical training in the West Midlands. She then undertook a laboratory-based research post in East Anglia, focusing on colonic calcium signalling, before returning to the West Midlands to complete her registrar training in general and colorectal surgery in 2009.

As part of her registrar training, Sarah was awarded a regional travelling fellowship to the Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where she studied advances in laparoscopic surgery and peritoneal cancer. After completing her training, she was appointed Consultant Colorectal Surgeon at Walsall Manor Hospital, where she helped establish a joint pelvic floor clinic in collaboration with a uro-gynaecologist.

In 2018, Sarah joined the colorectal department at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, specialising in pelvic floor and functional bowel disorders. She works closely with uro-gynaecologists at Birmingham Women’s Hospital, running a multidisciplinary service for patients with complex pelvic floor conditions. Her expertise covers colorectal cancer, benign coloproctology, and a wide range of pelvic floor disorders, including rectal prolapse, obstructed defaecation, and slow transit constipation.
