Dr Victoria Kunene is an experienced Consultant Medical Oncologist, currently practising privately at The Harborne Hospital, Birmingham. With over 25 years of medical expertise, Dr Kunene specialises in the comprehensive care and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers, including bowel (colorectal), stomach, oesophageal, pancreatic, biliary tract cancers, and cancers of unknown primary origin.

Dr Kunene began her medical career by earning her medical degree from the University of Natal in South Africa in 1998. Following her graduation, she moved to the UK, undertaking extensive specialist training in Medical Oncology throughout the West Midlands region. She successfully completed her Specialist Registrar training in Medical Oncology in 2012 and was appointed as a Consultant Oncologist in the same year.

Her clinical expertise covers a wide range of gastrointestinal cancers, ensuring personalised, compassionate care for each patient. Dr Kunene is dedicated to offering the latest evidence-based treatments, including chemotherapy, targeted therapies, and immunotherapy, tailored to meet individual patient needs and optimise outcomes.

Beyond her clinical role, Dr Kunene is deeply committed to cancer research and innovation. She actively leads as a Principal Investigator in several clinical trials, contributing significantly to advancements in cancer treatments and patient care. Her involvement in cutting-edge research ensures her patients have access to the latest therapeutic developments and clinical breakthroughs.

Dr Kunene has held prominent leadership roles, highlighting her exceptional professional standing. She previously served as Chair of the West Midlands Chemotherapy Expert Advisory Group and as Clinical Service Lead for Chemotherapy at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham. In these key positions, she played a crucial role in developing and refining chemotherapy treatment pathways and clinical guidelines across the region, positively impacting patient care.

Currently, Dr Kunene holds the position of Clinical Service Lead for Chemotherapy at Walsall Manor Hospital, continuing her dedicated work in improving cancer services and treatment protocols. She is also an active member of the West Midlands Molecular Genomic Tumour Advisory Board, where she collaborates with a multidisciplinary team of specialists to deliver personalised, precision cancer care.

Passionate about education, Dr Kunene is involved extensively in medical teaching and training. She regularly engages in educational activities, mentoring and nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals. Her approachable manner, clear communication, and dedication to patient education make her highly regarded by patients and colleagues alike.
